Apple Card Issues $10BLN in 1st Month, Adds Cash Back for Walgreens, Duane Reade, and Others
Apple Card reported “the best card launch ever” when it issued over $10 billion in credit card lines for August 2019, its first month of operations. This puts Apple Card on track to become a top 10 card issuer in the USA within 12 months.
Less noticed is Apple Card’s steady increase in the number of card-linked offer cash back partners. The card launched with just Uber and Uber Eats as cash back partners. Since the August launch, “everyday spend” merchants including Walgreens, Duane Reade and T-mobile have been added at a rapid clip. The insight here is that card-linked cash back offers have emerged as the “must have” digital engagement driver for credit cards.
